Oh My Pen and Press

I write this blog with huge gratitude to my wonderful neighbour and fellow Mama Emma at Oh My Pen and Press.
We have lived close by for a few years now though it wasn't until one merry little lockdown afternoon we officially became buddies! My family and I were doing our usual 3pm lap around our estate (45 minutes to walk 3 streets thanks to our little man stopping at every grid to fill it with stones) that Emma and her little fella caught our eye waving out of the window. "We haven't seen anybody for days!" she laughed and we chatted for for a while as they hung out of the front bedroom window.
That feels like a lifetime ago! When I decided to rebrand  The Monton Mama, Emma was one of the first to come forward and support me and has helped behind the scenes to create my brand. Little did I know that branding is exactly what this very talented buddy of mine is skilled in and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome.
Emma started her journey into branding when she began was awarded a Distinction grade for her Diploma in Art and Design from University College Isle of Man. During her studies, she focused heavily on graphic design and created a portfolio rich in typography and advertising. She went on to work in marketing and events organisation, as an in-house graphic designer and logistics coordinator. Being responsible for the design and execution of international events, she gained a wealth of experience which combined with her art and design background paved the way for the conception of her letterpress and modern calligraphy studio, Oh My Pen and Press!
You can see in her work that her style is modern and design-led. Calligraphy, typography, illustration and unusual materials all make a feature in her colourful pallet. To keep ahead of the game, Emma keeps her ear to the ground to be sure that she knows what is the next trend emerging.

Emma also holds modern lettering workshops for beginners and improvers alike. Her beginner’s introductions to both modern calligraphy and brush lettering are fun and informative, and Emma perfectly balances teaching the group with one to one tutoring where needed. As one of her students you leave with the knowledge and tools to practice your new found skills.

I can't wait until these classes begin again.... and practice before I send out my Christmas cards!!

To book a workshop, enquire about wedding stationary or just look at Emma's beautiful craft you can follow her on Facebook

Until next time....

The Monton Mama
